Role Of Human Activities In Global Warming

ROLE OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES IN GLOBAL WARMING

The modern man’s contribution to degraded ecosystems and poor natural habitats is countlessly memorabilia. The pure and divine mother earth is bitterly weeping today for mercy. It is estimated that around 100 per cent of the climatic disasters are man-made.

Even after reaching an alarming stage, we are busy in materialistic wars over possessions, etc. So shamelessly man has over-exploited the nature that we might require to find a new planet for ourselves in our near future.

Boarding schools in Dehradun students will be familiar with climate change and global warming as they study regarding the causes of global warming are many human activities like the burning of fossil fuels for energy in terms of electricity and fuel for vehicles.

The worldly pleasures that excite human beings fail to repair the permanent defects caused to the environment.

Many human operations are the source of sorrow in terms of earth’s health. The first reason that has caused these grievous impacts is greed. Our ambition has put us into great trouble. If a man paid more attention to the smooth wellbeing of nature then a major battle would have been won then itself. But man chooses the other wrong option, as usual.

So, addressing the actual issue in hand- global warming is the phenomena where the earth’s temperature keeps increasing gradually. And according to the researchers, this gradual increase in the earth’s temperature is a vital cause behind the changing climate cycles. Heatwaves in the summers, no rains, prolonged winters, and every changed weather pattern are side-effects of global warming. Moreover, glacier melting is also a product of man-made global warming.

The combustion of fossil fuels results in the emission of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, etc. These greenhouse gases absorb the harmful radiation and re-emit them back at the earth. This causes a substantial increase in the heat, thus disturbing the earth’s stable temperature. The greenhouse gases that man produces as a by-product of various operations is the root cause of sorrow.

Some harmful human activities are the result of modernization; some have been an ancient practice. Coal-burning and other activities were followed for a long time, but the warming issue started only when the imbalance occurred. Due to overpopulation, deforestation became popular. To create space for emerging buildings and to accommodate the high demand for electricity and energy, deforestation started recklessly. The decrease in trees killed the most prominent carbon dioxide consumer, hence, deteriorating the earth’s health.

The use of certain chemical components like CFC’s etc. in the refrigerator and other products (however banned now!) has encouraged an increase in global warming. Too many vehicles driving (no use of public transport), overusing plastic, lack of filtration of exhaust, no vegetation and harvest, no effective procurement of the non-conventional sources of energy, over-exploitation of easily available resources like electricity, etc. are some of the common-man practices that lead to a considerable impact on the carbon emission.

Here, more prominence is to find daily easy and common man accessible remedies that can save the earth’s declining health. Some simple steps like turning the light and fan switch off when not in use, putting the tap off while brushing, planting more and more around your home, avoiding plastic bags, using public transport or car-pooling, etc. can hugely reduce carbon emission. We, in our tiny way, can contribute and change the present situations, essentially!
