SHOULD WE ARGUE WITH OUR PARENTS?

SHOULD WE ARGUE WITH OUR PARENTS?

Growing in an Indian family, arguing with our elders is never a part of our culture. Earlier it was a strict rule that the younger generation would never be a part of the family discussion, it doesn't matter if the decision is to be made for you. We are always taught to love, respect, and obey our elders because they have seen the larger picture of the world and are more experienced than us. Also, it is said that our elders might sound rude to us, but they are always our well-wishers. The decision they take can be hard to accept but is just for a better future. It is true that our parents can never turn into a destroyer to us as they will always stand upright to filter the danger before it reaches us.

They will always be at our side, even if the whole world decides to betray us. Therefore, there is no doubt that our parents deserve a certain amount of love and respect from us. You can be angry with your mother or father, but whenever you are in pain, you will always scream their names in the first place, no matter how old you become. This is the level of trust you have for them. Now it is just that you forget their sacrifices and pain they bear to make you the person that you are today.

The role of our parents in building our life has great importance, but there are times when we are not able to understand them, neither are they. This situation creates misunderstandings and leads to arguments. The aggression or the rudeness we spell through our mouth is not the right way to deal with this kind of situation. Arguments are never an option. Therefore one must try to sit with a calm and peaceful mind and discuss the situation with parents.

This way, you can put forward your viewpoints, and at the same time, parents can understand things to give their thoughts through their life experience. If the question is about your career, then make them believe in you, your dedication, your abilities, and your passion so that they permit you to do what you want. They believe in you but make them believe in your passion and assure them that you can create a far better future than they have planned or expected. Brief them about your plans as well as your backup plans, the time duration that you will invest in them, and everything that you have in your mind.

They have some dreams and plans regarding your future that they want you to fulfill, but if you are capable of convincing them that their son/ daughter is now a grownup and studied in some good top 10 boarding schools in India, if you will make them understand logically and in a manner in which the old generation can relate to the younger generation parents will surely take you seriously and think that you are mature and smart enough to take the responsibility , they will surely understand you.

It is also a fact that not everyone is perfect, so there can be a few decisions of your parents that turn out wrong, but this gives you no right to argue with them because the entire life that they have sacrificed in securing you and your future is irreplaceable. just like sending you for the studies for better future in some great icse schools in Dehradun. so that they can do better in the future at these icse schools which are famous.  They might not know what your generation is all about.

They can be orthodox, they might point to small things, but all they do is out of love and care they showed to you. They are definitely not a part of your generation, but they have been to the age in which you are living and have come out so far. Definitely, they are more mature and experienced because they are the same age as yours. They have made the same mistakes. That’s why every time they warn you or are aware of something, be careful with it then being annoyed or irritated. They cannot be right all the time, so whenever you feel like it, just talk to them, discuss, and together find a solution; never argue.
